My Top Books For Kids Who Can’t Sit Still

I love to read. I want my daughter to love to read. I do not think forcing her to sit down and listen to a book is the way to get her to like books. Instead we look for books that she can interact with. Books that allow her to move. She loves these books! First thing she ask when she wakes up is “read book please.” These are all active toddler approve! You See Trash, They See A Toy

As a parent you know that if you buy a child a really cool present they will most likely want to play with the box it came in. So why do we keep spending money on toys that they play with for only a short time. We have this need to keep our kids “entertained” with the latest and greatest. Being bored is good for kids. It stimulates creativity. That’s right if you want your child to be more creative let them be bored. We have a box that I put random things in that I would have normally thrown away. Things like egg cartons, food containers, boxes, ect. A…

    Teaching Your Toddler The ABC’s

I once heard “If your child loves to read then it does not matter what grades they get in school they will still go far” My biggest fear in homeschooling has always been teaching my kids to read. I love to read but I was always behind when it came to reading in school. I also might just be the worst speller I know. Its true. How ironic is it that spelling is my worst subject but I write for a living? I am sure you can do a quick search on Pinterest or Google on how to teaching your kids the alphabet and you will find some amazing ideas…

    Dramatic Play

I love dramatic play. It’s fun watching a child’s creativity come out during play time. Play is a great way to interact and teach your child social, educational, and behavior skills. Below I have added some of my favorite dramatic play ideas. I built this play stand with materials from the craft store. The crates are about $10 (without a coupon) at Michael’s. The sign is made out of chalk paint which is great because I can use the same stand for different dramatic play ideas. NOTE: this post is always changing as we add more dramatic play ideas each week. Be sure to check back! Coffee House: We got…

    Play Through The Bible

I have a very active 2 year old. I get tired just watching her play. That is when I got the idea to teach her about the Bible through play. I love that she is having fun while learning about the Bible. That is how it should be right? There are some weeks we mix it up. One day we might to a craft; and another day we act it out. (As a side note: this post is constantly changing as I add more and more ideas each week so be sure to check back!) Adam and Eve: Go ahead and take a moment to make fun of my snake.…
